Zazen Restaurant
Koh Samui, Thailand
The Zazen Restaurant project marks HAMPKON's entry into the commercial and hospitality sector — applying the same design rigour and construction discipline that define our residential work to a demanding dining environment on Koh Samui.
Restaurant spaces are unforgiving: every material choice, every junction, every detail is seen at close range, every day. The brief demanded a space that feels considered from every seat in the room — and one that would hold up to the wear of a working kitchen and a full dining room.
The interior design draws on natural materials — stone, timber, woven textures — in a palette calibrated for candlelight as much as daylight. Lighting was layered in from the outset, with ambient, task, and accent sources resolved together rather than installed as an afterthought. The result is a room that changes character across the course of an evening.
The Zazen Restaurant fitout was completed and handed over as a fully operational commercial space — demonstrating that the same standards HAMPKON applies to private residences translate directly into the commercial and hospitality environment.
